A long time ... going.

October 23

Or coming.. I am unsure.  The point being is that time goes by too fast!  Mud Honeys wrapped up an awesome season! With podiums in almost every race.  Travelling to UT, and Driggs and Bend for Marathon Nationals; We even had Muffy Ritz win as a National Champion!!!  Rebecca went to 24 hr Nationals in CO and snatched another N. Champ title on a 4 person team.  We had never ever racers racing this year and loving it! As always, thank you to our sponsors!! We can't do it without you!
Currently, we are in cyclocross season! Who knew that running and jumping with a bike could be so much fun! We don't have a big series here but we do have a few races to try our "skills" at.  Our friends have a nice piece of land in which they created a 'cross course for us to use... it's awesome. Check it out on Facebook at SOBX. Thanks to Josh and Nancy for all the fun and for sacrificing your hay! Also, Twin Falls is an hour drive with a new series this year, with 6 races. The first race yesterday, was a hoot! Crosstoberfest is this coming weekend!!! Bring your cowbell and your drinking gloves!

Wood River Cup... goes to a Mud Honey, again!

July 1

Well, it's over.... June! and that also means that the short track races are over for the year! We made it ...and not only did we make it, we made it on top - of the podium that is! Congratulations to Brooke Hovey for taking the Wood River Cup and deserving it! to Joanna Peters for a solid 2nd and to India Wysong for 3rd (racing on her single speed all season). Not only that, we had the most phenomenal women's turnout this season - times when we had 18 women on the starting line! Cheers to women power and the confidence that is built by being on a supportive team! We celebrated by drinking copius amounts of Chimay from the trophy (the Wood River Cup). Thanks girls for being such great riding partners! Next up, NATIONALS!!!!!

Marc, the Smoker

June 20

My Hubby, Marc, put on the Soldier Mountain Smoker this past Saturday. It was a qualifier for Nationals and ... well, a bunch of us qualified! The race went off without a hitch and I was astounded that no one got hurt on that course! The downhill is 'no cultivated' xc course!! It"s full of ruts and rocks and obtrusive water crossing, etc.. Cheers to everyone for riding within their limits or.. riding outside of them and then reeling them in (me!).

Mud Honeys; Gretchen, Maranda, Colleen, India, Brooke, Sara and Liv raced. Also, thanks to Mia for helping with the timing!!

Susan and Rebecca went to Ashland, OR this weekend and raced a Super D and a Chainless Downhill. Um, Badass!

We did it .

June 12

We worked the 9to 5 race!

Sara - 1st solo woman
India - 3rd solo woman
Susan - 1st solo woman, 40+

It was a fun, fast and fervish course! We came home happy and covered in cow poo. What's that saying- "happier than a pig in shit"... similiar to that.
BIG Thanks to the Club Ride team for their energy and support! and good job to Marc and Cameron and Michael Shane...  And Team Patty (Colleen and Jason) in the co-ed duo!!  WRV Whooped up!

To Gear or not to Gear?

June 9

What a silly question. However, this season, I have had so much fun riding my custom Castle Frameworks Single Speed .. and if I don't ride it at the 9 to 5, will I be sad? I did this race last year on a team with my hubby and it's a funnnn course however, like all races, I have forgetten the parts of "suffer" and just remember the good stuff... Hmm. Anyhow, whichever I choose, will be fine! I am looking forward to having a fun day in the saddle with a great group of friends and fellow riders! We have Mud Honeys Susan, Sara (aka schroe dawg), Colleen and myself representing. Susan, Sara and I will be riding solo and Colleen is on a duo  team with her husaband Jason, named 'The Patty's' (in lieu of her mamma).  Also racing is Marc Driver and Cameron Llyod as a duo and Michael Shane as a soloist. I am so happy to have the company of these Club Ride Apparel men! Thank you to Mike, in advance, for supporting us.. from 9:00 to 5:00 (don't forget to clock in!).

Summer Lovin'

June 6

Well, it was here... and I am crossing my fingers that it didn't leave! The riding here in Ketchum just WOKE UP and it's riding excellent! It's sorta nice to have trails open one by one.. it's like a candy wrapper.

Don't forget that we have the XC Nationals here this July! If you want to race at them, you will have to qualify at a race (check out the qualifiers schedule) and you have to own an annual license.

It's going to be an intense weekend of fun!! So, look into it www.ridesunvalley.com
This weekend is the 9 to 5 bike race in Boise, stay tuned for info... we have a few girls going .. in a supped up Sportsmobile! HOT!

Coyote Classic

May 15

Heard it was a little bit of a Coyote Ugly actually... the temps were WARM and us high country women, aint used to that!  However, Mud Honey pulled it off - STRONG! Congrats to Ashley, Wendy, Laura T and Maranda for racing Cat 2 and to Janelle and Muffy for racing Cat. 1! We have another group of women that qualified for Nationals! Way to go Girls!!!!

Happy happy joy joy

May 8

Ok, it may be raining TODAY but yesterday.... Wendy Rector and I rode the Hailey trails for 3 hrs! They just opened up on Thursday and darn! if they are not great! We have such a wonderful trail crew here in town and those boys - and girls (Thanks Janelle!!!) shoveled the angry snow to find blistering fast (ok, my legs were not fast) dirt!!  we saw many groups out there enjoying - including fellow Mud Honeys Sara Schroeder, Janelle Conners and Colleen Hayes & Carrie Morgridge (ok I didnt see col or carrie but they were out there!) Awe, being a tomboy as a kid, I have always loved playing in the dirt! What a great way to open up the season!!! Thanks Wendy for being such a great wingman (pronounced woman)!!!

'Tis the Season!

April 18

Well, I think that the season is officially underway although we do have a lot of stubborn snow still lingering. Not in Hailey though! This Sunday, my husband, Marc put on the 5th annual HGH Bike Tour. HGH stands for Hailey-Gannett-Hailey. It is a tour on road or 'cross bikes through the Bellevue triangle area.. and they say tour but like I say.. aint no tours here in the Wood River Valley. Ha! 25 riders this year! Muffy was the only Mud Honey attendee (and only female). I was hobbled! I ran the race to Robie Creek (13 miles) on Saturday in Boise and that downhill wrecked me! Susan and Rebecca went and raced at Sea Otter Classic. Go Mud Honey GO! It's BeGUNNNNNN!!! Yipee!

Du-MP!

April 13

It is DUMPING outside. Yes, I mean Snow. Lots of it. Big, white, fluffy and actually beautiful flakes of it. If only it were.. January. Anyhow, this weekend, we have Susan and Rebecca in Cali racing the Sea Otter Classic! There must be dry trails somewheres Wink (ok, I have a husband from North Carolina). Also here in the Valley, we will be riding an annual tour called the HGH. It's a road/cx bike ride that is chalk full of testerone touring the greater Hailey/Gannett/Bellevue area. It's suppose to be a tour.. but last year I rode it solo (meaning I was completely dropped). So, if you are around and female, show up at WiseGuy HAILEY at 11:00 to partake!!!

The Barking Spider!

April 11

Well, the first race is behind us! We had 4 Mud Honeys who raced and a whole Men's crew of Club Ride racers and good ole Wood River Valley folk. It has been a tough "spring" here -- lots of rain and snow.. so, I applaude those who jumped on their bkes for the first time and raced! Barking Spider was also a qualifier for Nationals that are going to be held here in Ketchum in July. I think that all of those that raced, qualified! Nice work everyone! Stay on the bike.... the season is officially underway.

Snow Valley, Idaho!

March 20

It's March 20th... and as I sit here updating the Mud Honey Cycling Facebook page and the website with upcoming mountain bike races .. the view from my window is... well, WHITE! It's been dumping snow all day long! I feel sorta badly for being a little bit "beyond" winter as it's obviously in full swing. So, tomorrow, will be yet another ski day. Please stay tuned into Mud Honey... we are going to have some fun stuff going on this summer and we are looking FORWARD to it!
